Snow in the south tonight

Snow is forecast across southern England on Tuesday night, but where, and will it actually materialise?

We've already seen the first bout of snow as a result of a low pressure system crossing central parts of England on Monday night, along with heavy snow showers blowing in from the north to parts of Scotland and Northern England.

On Tuesday night however, another system is expected to scoot along the English Channel from the Atlantic, potentially delivering snow to southern portions of the UK.

This low pressure system will bring mild and moist air from the south-west, which will interact with colder air to the north. As a result, along this meeting boundary, snow could fall even to low levels across parts of southern England and south Wales, though could be more substantial at higher altitudes.

It's a complex situation however, due to the mix of these two air masses, with the exact track of the system and consequent boundary line altering where may see snow. There could also be some rain and sleet mixed in there too.

Another system pushing in later on Wednesday has the potential to bring further disruptive snow, so stay tuned for our updates inside the app.
